RECOGNITION OF NGOZI ROSEMARY OGWIKE STEWARDSHIP:

Visibility is about being open to your sexual orientation or gender identity with pride. At a time when many members of our LGBT+ community are still nervous about being open to their lifestyle for fear of recrimination from haters within the community.
Rosemary, a Nigerian lesbian who fled Nigeria for fear of persecution, scaled the barrier imposed by homophobia and openly expressed her sexuality without fear of intimidation.
She has been outspoken about LGBT+ rights and advocates for the abolition of retrogressive anti-LGBT+ policies of the commonwealth countries, especially in Nigeria, where she hails from. Rosemary, a member of various LGBT+ organisations, including the Persian LGBT organisation, in recognition of her spirited steadfastness to the cause of LGBT people’s plight, was recently rewarded for her astute support and volunteering role at the
Walthamstow Trade Hall, where our inclusive Asylum Seekers monthly event is held on the 27th of August 2024. The award, which a senior member of the organisation, Michael Okorokporo (Micky), presented on behalf of the Persian Lgbt organisation, was in recognition of Rosemary’s contribution towards the growth of the LGBT community in the United Kingdom and for championing LGBT rights in the Commonwealth countries. We at the Persian LGBT community salute Rosemary for her unfettered determination to uphold the dignity of the LGBT spirit and help others to realise the same 🌈🌈🌈
